The Daily News, Longview, Washington, April 23, 2003: Jean E. Famuliner, 74, of Cathlamet, died April 19, 2003, at a local nursing home. She was born April 14, 1929, in Detroit to Donald and Mary (Miller) Erpelding. She graduated from Highland Park High School in Detroit in 1946 and attended Pierce College in Woodland Hills, Calif. She lived in California for 50 years prior to moving to Cathlamet in 2000. Mrs. Famuliner retired after many years as a technical administrator with the Rockwell International space program in 1992. She was a longtime member of Kirk O' The Valley Presbyterian Church in Reseda, Calif., where she taught preschool and served as a deacon. She was also a member of Rockwell Rockatomics Jewelry Making Club. She loved to paint and draw, and enjoyed sewing, designing clothes and travel. Through a local organization, she was able to rescue abandoned animals and take care of them. She is survived by a son, Steve Famuliner of Cathlamet; two daughters, Carla Matthews of Porter Ranch, Calif., and Diana Hamann of Acworth, Ga.; two sisters, Carol Arntz of Napa, Calif., and Elaine Pasero of Medical Lake, Wash.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A son, Gary Famuliner, preceded her in death in 1974. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth, Calif. Memorial contributions may be made to the Washington Special Olympics, 15056 15th Ave. N.E., Seattle, WA 98155. Arrangements are by Dowling Funeral Home, Cathlamet.
