From Gent Funeral Home, http://www.gentfuneralhome.com. John A. Bradley, 92, died at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at his residence. He was born June 26, 1921 in Blodgett, MO the son of the late Schuyler and Rita (Lewis) Bradley. He retired from the mold shop at Owens IL Glass in Alton. He was a very proud supporter of the Godfrey Fire Department where he retired as Fire Chief. He was a member of the North Alton Southern Baptist Church and Franklin Masonic Lodge #25 AF & AM. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather who enjoyed playing the harmonica. On December 24, 1940 he married the former Leora (Maynard) in Charleston, MO whom he loved since he met her as a red curly headed nine year old and she survives. Also surviving are four children; Rita Frankford (Edward) of Godfrey, Bob Bradley (Fran) of Everett, WA, Mike Bradley (Carolyn) of Godfrey and Cheri Westbrook (Jim) of Godfrey, eight grandchildren; Debra McGinnis, Jeffrey Frankford, Christine Rohrbach, Carrie Morrill, John Hughson, Curt Bradley, Cullen Bradley and Chad Bradley, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, two sisters; Gaye Wolferding of Tavares, FL and Vernetta Chappell of Cape Girardeau MO, and numerous nieces, nephews, step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandson; Michael Frankford, two sisters; Roberta Powell and Maye Barnes, and one brother; William Bradley. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2013 with Reverend Sonny Renken, Reverend Ralph Corwin and Reverend John Hessel to officiate. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
