The Peoria Journal Star, Peoria, Illinois, Thursday, September 26, 2002, All Editions, Page B 04: Roseville - Carroll Swisher, 77, of Roseville died at 1:35 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, at Community Medical Center in Monmouth. Born July 4, 1925, in Green Castle, Mo., to Charles W. and Carlices J. Anderson Swisher, he married Louise Hughes on Jan. 11, 1948. He later married Eloise Walker Davis on Feb. 15, 1975, in Roseville. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Deb (and Ron) Manuel of Monmouth and Lisa (and John) Carlberg of Tiffon, Ohio; three sons, Terry (and Cindy) Davis of Roseville, Charles Davis of Houston and Roger (and Colleen) Davis of Annawan; two brothers, William and Herb, both of Green Castle; one sister, Frances Claybrook of Green Castle; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Harold Davis, and one brother. A member of Lawson Babbitt American Legion Post 614, he was a World War II Army veteran, serving with the 145th Infantry Division in the South Pacific. He received the Purple Heart. He was a Moorman salesman in the Warren County and Knox County areas for many years. He was a member of Monmouth First Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and was a member of Pathfinders and Lutheran Friends. He was a member of Roseville Lions Club and the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 397 in Monmouth, where he had served as secretary for nine years and as exalted ruler from 1987 to 1988. Service swill be at 11 a.m. Friday at Corman Memorial Home in Roseville, where visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight. The Rev. Keith Dillinger will officiate. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery in rural Roseville, where military rites will be conducted by his American Legion post. Memorials may be made to his church, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or Community Medical Center Volunteer Organization.
