The Dallas Morning News, Dallas, Texas, Tuesday, February 10, 2004: Prindle, Carol Anne Kirkpatrick Surratt, 46, the #1 Dallas STARS fan, went to meet her Lord, Saturday, February 7th, after a long battle with breast cancer. Celebration of life: 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ. Visitation: Thursday, 6 to 8 p.m. in the Parlor at Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ. Her family will also receive friends immediately following services in the church atrium. Memorials: Susan G. Komen Foundation or American Cancer Society. Carol was born July 14, 1957, in El Paso, TX to Mary Catherine McKillip Kirkpatrick and Foy Lee Kirkpatrick. She grew up in North Richland Hills, attending Ft. Worth Christian from Kindergarten thru 8th grade. The family then moved to Lubbock where she graduated from Lubbock Christian High School and attended Lubbock Christian College and Texas Tech University. She married Lanny Ray Surratt on Nov. 4, 1977, and soon moved to Odessa. Carol worked in several accounting positions and continued her college education at night. Her son Joshua was born while the family lived in Odessa. The family then moved to Arlington where her daughter Sara was born. Carol later returned to college full-time attending UTA. She graduated Cum Laude with a BBA in Accounting in Aug. 1995. Carol began her employment at TGI Friday's upon graduation. On October 27, 1995 Carol married John M. Prindle. Soon afterwards she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Carol continued her employment with Friday's until she was forced to go on permanent disability. The Friday's family was always there to support Carol however they could. The family wishes to thank Dr. Charles Deur and his staff at Texas Oncology, as well as the staff of Solaris Hospice for their loving care. Also, much love to friends for all their prayers and support. Known for her great sense of humor, Carol lived by the Golden Rule. She loved her family deeply. Carol loved life and faced death with humor and courage. Her deep faith in the Lord helped her to be at peace with her illness and inspired those who knew her. Carol was a member of Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ for many years. She will be sorely missed, but has gone to a better place. Survivors: Her husband, John M. Prindle, Sr. of Arlington; son, Joshua R. Surratt of Richardson; daughter, Sara M. Surratt of Richardson; parents, Foy and Mary Kirkpatrick of Arlington; sister, Elaine Fuqua of Plano; brother, Paul Kirkpatrick of Greeley, CO; stepsons, Mark Prindle of Round Rock and Shawn Prindle of Ft. Worth; four step-grandchildren; and many in-laws, aunts, uncles and cousins. Arrangements provided by Arlington Funeral Home Arlington, Texas 817-548-1791.
