He was born near Garden Plain and was a retired truck driver. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Tharon Garrett, Los Angeles, and Miss Phyllis Jean Shipley, Farmington, N. M.; four brothers John, Canon City, Colo., Charles, Fort Collins, Colo., Ed, Clearwater, and Oscar, Goddard, and two sisters, Mrs. Cora Williams, Pueblo, Colo. and Mrs. Lottie Sechler, Pasadena, Calif.
Albuquerque Tribune, Albuquerque, New Mexico, July 12, 1966: Shipley---Oliver A. Shipley, 71, resident of this city 31 years, passed away Sunday evening in a local nursing home after a long illness. He resided at 1210 Walter SE and is survived by his wife Mrs. Mae Shipley of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Tharon Garret of California and Mrs. Truman Weaver of Farmington; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, and two brothers. Services will be announced by the French Mortuary.
Albuquerque Tribune, Albuquerque, New Mexico, July 13, 1966: Shipley---Services for Oliver A. Shipley will be held this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from the Chapel in the Garden of the French Mortuary, 1111 University NE. The Rev. Harry Shelton will officiate. Cremation will take place later.
