Obituary from The Wichita Beacon, Sunday, October 24, 1948: Goddard Man Taken in Death. Funeral services for Jospeh A. McMillen, 79 of Goddard, who died Friday in a local hospital, will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Flannagan Boarman chapel. The Rev. Loval Miles of Clearwater, Kas., will officiate. Burial will be in the Clearwater cemetery. McMillen, a retired Sedgwick County farmer, was born near Princeville, Illinois and came to Sedgwick County with his parents in 1873. In 1877, they moved to a farm near Goddard which McMillen farmed until his health failed. He is survived by a son, Carl McMillen; a sister Mrs. Ada Belle Wilson, both of Clearwater; two brothers John F. McMillen, Clearwater and Charley McMillen, Goddard, and six grandchildren.
