Obituary from The Hutchinson News, Saturday, June 30, 2001: Max D. Kirkpatrick, 75, died June 29, 2001, at his residence Newton. He was born Oct. 25,* 1925, at Newton, the son of Ross Everett and Ella Mae Lyons Kirkpatrick, A graduate of Oklahoma State University, with a degree in mechanical engineering, he served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and with the 45th infancy division of the Army National Guard during the Korean War. He was a partner with Kirkpatrick Heating and Plumbing, Newton. He was a hunter safety instructor and received the first Silver Beaver Award, an honorary award for hunter safety. He belong to Our Lady Guadalupe Catholic Church, American Legion. VFW, Knights of Columbus and the Kansas Plumbing and Heating Association, all of Newton. On March 17, 1951 he married Marjorie Burns at Wichita. She survives. Other survivors include: two sons, Jim, Houston, and Pat, Newton; five daughters, Kathryn Kirkpatrick-Moss, Fort Collins, Colo., Joan Kirkpatrick, Wichita, Helen Grotz, Beloit, Virginia Jury, Newton and Mary Kirkpatrick, Beloit; and nine grandchildren. Funeral Service will be a t 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady Guadalupe Catholic Church, with the Rev. Floyed Mckinney presiding. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the church. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Newton. Memorials may be sent to the Hunter Education Safety Fund and the NHS Wrestling Team, both in care of the funeral home.
