Robert O. Neel, age 78, of New Paris, Ohio, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at Kindred Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.

Born on December 30, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Robert & Hazel (Kirkman) Neel. Robert proudly served in the U.S. Army in the 5th Army division in Okinawa from 1949 to 1952. Robert was a Carpenter for 20 years with the Carpenters Union in Richmond, Indiana and Dayton, Ohio. Robert retired in 1993 from General Motors at Delco Moraine Plant in Dayton, Ohio after 20 years as a Mill Wright. Member of the Carpenters Union and U.A.W in Dayton, Ohio. Member of the American Legion Post #360 in New Paris, Ohio. Member of the V.F.W. in Greenville, Ohio. Member of the AMVETS in Eldorado, Ohio. Member of F.O.E. in Greenville, Ohio. Member of the Moose Lodge in Greenville, Ohio. Member of the First United Presbyterian Church in New Paris, Ohio. Preceded in death by son, Robert A. Neel; grandson, Curtis Neel

Survived by his wife of 36 years, Florence (Hardwick) Neel of New Paris, Ohio; children & spouses, Danny Neel of Richmond, Indiana, Terry & Linda Neel of Phoenix, Arizona, Mark & Paula Neel of Phoenix, Arizona and Delynn & John Warfel of Medina, Ohio; grandchildren, Robert, Amanda, Terry, Kaitlin, Kim, Phil, Dakota, Raylene, Jill and Eric; great grandchildren, Garrett and Elizabeth.

Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at Barnes Funeral Homes, 109 West Main Street, New Paris, Ohio with Rev. Dennis Andrews officiating. Interment will be held in Greenmound Cemetery in New Madison, Ohio with Full Military Honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and on Thursday, December 11, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
