Hartson, 74, a resident of Davenport, Iowa, died Sunday, March 20, 2011, at Genesis Medical Center, East Rusholme Street, Davenport, Iowa. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2011, at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois. Those wishing to attend will gather at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa, at 10:30 a.m. onThursday. Wesley was born July 14, 1936, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Jim "Jacey" and Helen (Onley) Hartson. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Gisele M. Cybulski, on May 8, 1971, in Moline, Illinois. She preceded him in death on May 24, 2007. Wesley served his country in the United States Marine Corps for eight years and then in the United States Navy Seabee's for many more years. He was a lifelong electrician who worked as a lineman for the local phone company in Cedar Falls/Waterloo, Iowa, Rock Island Railroad, Firestone, and JI Case Company. In his later years he worked as a security guard for John Deere. He was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and a pilot who loved to fly and attend nearby air shows. Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Susan (Russell) Cox, Clinton, Iowa, and Sharon (Gary) Vandenbergh, Wasilla, Alaska; his sons, David (Marla) Hartson, Deltona, Florida, and Michael (Ellen) Hartson, Washington, Iowa; his stepdaughter, Linda Nelson, Bettendorf, Iowa; his stepsons, Jean Nelson, of Arkansas, Robert Nelson, of Arkansas and Larry (Vickie) Nelson, Wichita, Kansas; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Cody.
