Mrs Sarah L Luebke, 74, died Aug. 15, 2000, at Providence Alaska Medical Center due to cancer. A memorial service will be Saturday at the Tazlina Village Hall.
Mrs. Luebke was born Oct. 28, 1925, in Valier, Ill., to Joseph and Beulah Stubbins. She moved in 1947 to Gulkana, where she met Jerome Luebke. They were married in Fairbanks Oct. 17, 1948. They homesteaded and built their first home in Glennallen, where they lived until 1963. Then they moved to a homestead in the Tazlina area.
Mrs. Luebke worked for the State of Alaska, Department of Revenue in Glennallen during the early 1960s. She was the district magistrate during the mid-1960s. She also owned and operated the Glennallen Tastee Freez during the late 1960s.
She enjoyed riding her four-wheeler and snow machines; spending time with her family and relaxing at their cabin on Crosswinds Lake. She was dedicated to her family and she had a unique sense of humor they all enjoyed.
Mrs. Luebke is survived by her husband of nearly 52 years, Jerome Luebke of Tazlina; daughters and sons-in-law, Tes and Jim Grubbs of Eagle River, Nora and Larry Wagner of Anchorage; son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Martha Luebke of Anchorage; son, Will Luebke of Anchorage; sister-in-law, Paiwan Stubbins of Anchorage; niece, Belle Hughes of Arkansas; nephew, J.C. Stubbins of Juneau; grandsons, David Grubbs, Robert Neal Jr. and Nicholas Lorimer; granddaughters, Vikki Neal and Rhiannon Lorimer; and great-grandchildren Cole, Blaze, Vanessa Neal and Maria Lorimer. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Joseph Stubbins Jr.; and daughter, Nancy Luebke. Arrangements by Evergreen Memorial Chapel, downtown.
