Stephen Anderpool Cowan

Eufaula Indian Journal, Eufaula, Oklahoma, Friday, October 25, 1907, Page 2, Col. 1: Stephen Cowan died Friday at 2 p.m. He was 83 years of age. Mr. Cowan and his wife have been living with their son, S. J. Cowan, since last August. Dr. James M. Cowan, of Lamar, Ark., T. J. Cowan and wife of Fame, R. F. Cowan, of Sallisaw, and Mrs. Mary Williams, of Paden, was at their father's side [when] he passed away. Mr. Cowan and wife for the last five years have been living with their children. Mr. Cowan and wife were both borned in Tennessee. They were married in Texas and moved to Arkansas where they remained until the last five years. Old age was the cause of his death. Mrs. Cowan is laying at death's door, and says she is willing and prepared to meet her Savior any time. Mr. Cowan was buried at Brush Hill cemetery. He leaves a family and host of friends to mourn his loss.
