Posted on-line at The Daily Star-Journal, St. Joseph, Missouri on December 15, 2015: Sue Reese, 89, of Warrensburg, passed away on December 11 at Research Hospital in Kansas City. Alma Sue Alley was born January 27, 1926 in Blackwater MO, the daughter of Cread Coral and Naomi (Baker) Alley. She graduated from Blackwater High School in 1943. On May 15, 1948 she married Trevor David Reese at Peninsula Baptist Church in a double ceremony with her sister (Sarah and Paul Stober). Trevor and Sue were married for 67 wonderful years. Sue loved to spend her time serving others and being with her family. Family was one of the most important aspects of Sue’s life. As a homemaker and caregiver, she blessed her family as a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to cook, and cooking with her grandchildren was a treasured time. Her specialties were making bread and Nacadoches cake. Gardening was another passion of Sue’s. She loved to grow flowers because flowers were to share, and she taught her children the fine tradition of May Baskets. She loved serving at church, and she attended First Baptist Church of Warrensburg for over 50 years. Sue served with the Women’s Missionary Union teaching English as a second language, taught Sunday School to middle schoolers, and served on numerous committees. She loved meeting people from other cultures, tasting their foods, and sharing her home and food with them. With a keen interest in numbers, she was a bookkeeper and enjoyed memory games like mahjong, Sudoku, and crypto quotes from the Daily Star Journal. She was a marvelous example of a woman who loved her family and lived her faith. Sue is survived by her husband, Trevor; two sons, Trevor Reese Jr. of St. Louis, MO, Mark Reese and wife Tina of Anthem, AZ; a daughter, Susan Oxley and husband Doyle of Centerview, MO; six grandchildren, Erin Chenoweth and husband Matthew of St. Louis, MO, Ashley Powell and husband Kevin of St. Louis, MO, Jonie Oxley and R. Elias Oxley of Centerview, MO, Laura Reese and Kimberly Reese of Anthem, AZ; and one great-grandson, James Alley Chenoweth of St. Louis; and two sisters, Sarah Stober of Sweet Springs, MO and Joanne Beebe of Independence, MO.
