Sacramento Bee, Sacramento, California, Thursday, October 14, 1948, Page 8, Col. 1: Youth Is Killed By Wagon In Nevada. Stanhope, 15, was killed almost instantly Monday night when he fell under the wheels of a loaded hay wagon. The youth slipped off the top of the baled hay. Another youth riding on the wagon managed to hold his position. The dead youth was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford D. Stanhope of Alameda, Calif., and came here from Lodi, Calif. to go to school.
