Posted at findagrave.com: TURNER, Adrion Adrion Turner, age 84, of Hamilton, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2007, at the Ft. Hamilton Vitas Hospice Unit with his children by his side. Born in Hamilton, Ohio, on February 21, 1923, he was the son of the late Charles G. and Sophia (Madden) Turner. The family moved to Grey Hawk, Kentucky, where he was educated in the Jackson County Schools. On January 1, 1948, Adrion married Jean Shelton in Williamsburg, Kentucky and to this union four children were born. Adrion's children were always foremost in his life and his love for them was evident to all who knew him. Adrion was employed as a shipping clerk with Champion International Papers for 40 years. He enjoyed Blue Grass music, and singing and playing the guitar. He developed a wide circle of friends through the years. Adrion was an historian on the subjects of the Civil War, WWI, WWII and the Old West. He served in the US Navy from 1943-1945 during WWII serving in the American Theater, African European Theater, Asiatic Pacific Theater where he received a star and the Victory Ribbon (Point System). Adrion served on the Point Breeze Ship, E.H. Blum Ship, Frank Park Ship and the Patrick B. Whalen Ship. Adrion leaves to cherish his memory his former wife and best friend, Jean Shelton; his children, RuthAnn Turner, Kathryn Gibson and her husband Charles, Richard Turner and Cindi Turner Ledford (Frank Gayheart) all of Hamilton; grandchildren Sherry Alcorn, Danielle Turner, Ricky Turner, Joshua Withers, Ashlea Ledford and Adriana Jean Gayheart; great-grandchildren, Karli Spahn, Kaitlyn Alcorn, Gracie Turner and Kirsten Combs; two sisters and one brother, Datha Carter of Hamilton, Hoyte Moore and Lowell Turner, both of Hamilton and Okeechobee, Florida; sister-in-law, Nell Turner of Manchester, Kentucky; and aunt, Flora Chadwell of Englewood, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. Adrion was also preceded in death by a brother, Alton Turner; brothers-in-law, Dale Carter and Ranold Moore; and one nephew, Charles Turner. Funeral services will be held at Webb Noonan Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South "D" Street, Hamilton, at 11am on Saturday, September 8, 2007, with Rev. John Hodges officiating. Entombment will follow at Butler County Memorial Park. Family and friends will be received prior to the service on Saturday from 9-11am at the funeral home. The family expresses special thanks to Vitas Hospice at Ft. Hamilton, the nurses in the ICU Department and Care Connection.
