In the Hampton Chronicle of Hampton, Iowa 31 May 1962 it states: Mrs. Burton R. Jones, of Creston, was the guest of Miss Isabel Hobson over Memorial Day. Mrs. Jones, who will be remembered here as the former Miss Helen Graham, taught English in Hampton high school for a number of years ago, and was here to attend the reunion of the class of 1917.

Helen Jones Dies in Minnesota, While on a visit in Mankato, Minn. Mrs. Burton R. (Helen) Jones 71, of Creston, died at Mankato, Minn., Tuesday afternoon. She had been visiting in Mankato with her daughter, Mrs. R. W. (Barbara) Jones, and family since last week. Mrs. Jones was the widow of the late Burton R. Jones, who was superintendent of the Creston schools until his death in 1959. Mrs. Jones' body will be brought to Creston for funeral services and burial in Graceland cemetery. Funeral arrangements are not complete at this time. Mrs. Jones had been a teacher at the Cromwell consolidated school for 14 years before retiring a few years ago. She also had been a substitute teacher in the Creston schools since retiring at Cromwell. She began her work at Cromwell during the teacher shortage in World War II and continued after the war. She had attended Cornell college at Mount Vernon, Iowa, and Northwestern University at Evanston, Ill. She was married to Burton R. Jones at Springville, Iowa, on June 15, 1921. Mr. Jones died Feb. 1, 1959. She is survived by two daughters, Mr. F. W. (Barbara) Jones of Mankato, Minn., and Mrs. Walter (Frances) Gronert of Des Moines; two grandsons and four granddaughters. Mrs. Jones had lived in Creston since 1933, moving here from Spencer. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church, the Session of the church, and the church choir. She was a member of chapter AZ of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, the Creston Woman's club, the Ladies Literary Society, and the Greater Community Hospital Axillary. She was president of the Woman's club and vice president of the _____ Axillary in 1964. She had sang in the Union county women's chorus.
