(13 Mar 1919 - 11 Jun 2005)

The Daily Oklahoman, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Tuesday, June 14, 2005, City Edition, Page 14 A: Bessie Jo Aycock Bulla died peacefully at home on June 11, 2005, surrounded by her adoring family. Born March 13, 1919, in Snyder, OK, to Laura Myrtle and John Clay Aycock, she was their fourth and youngest child. Predeceased by her parents, her sister Frances Bednar of Dallas, and brother Bill of Green Valley, AZ, she is survived by another sister, Sue Vaughan Turnbull, of Solvang, CA. Although she lived most of her life in Oklahoma City, her family lived in the Rio Grande Valley during the Depression, she graduated from Norman High School, and she attended the University of Oklahoma. She met our dad, Merton M. Bulla, when she applied to be his secretary. They later married, and when he died in 1994 they had been married almost 54 years. Mom was kind, gentle, gracious, lively, bright, and beautiful-among other stellar attributes-and was inordinately committed to her whole family. Surviving are her children Carolyn Glasgow Crepps and Marian (Phil) Horning of Oklahoma City, Gordon (Lynn) of Edmond, and Leslie (Giorgio) Baracchi of Bologna, Italy. Her grandchildren include Erin Glasgow (David) Smith of Edmond, Clay (Kim) Horning of Norman, Sara Horning of St. Petersburg, FL, and Barri and Nick Bulla of Edmond. Great grandchildren are Harper Horning and Nathan and Gary Smith. A memorial service will be held at the First Unitarian Church on Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at 4:00 pm. If you would like to make a donation in her memory, please consider First Unitarian Church Endowment Fund, 600 NW 13, 73107, Hospice of Oklahoma County, 4334 Northwest Expressway, 73116, or another charity of your choice.
