Olive "Ollie" M. Pancoast

(1878 - 18 Jan 1884)

Valley Falls New Era, Valley Falls, Kansas, January 24, 1884, A Sad Death: About noon last Thursday Ollie, the little six year old daughter of W. C. Pancoast, got hold of a jug of whiskey, so it is related to us, and drank nearly a pint of the poisonous liquor, supposing it to be cider, the speedy effect of which was to throw the child into a comatose condition from which the best medical skill failed to rouse her, and last Friday evening she passed away surrounded by two doctors and the deeply sorrowing friends of the little victim. The funeral took place Saturday afternoon, the services being conducted by Rev. Dr. Denison. (No burial location given).
