Iowa Recorder, Greene, Iowa, Wednesday, March 23, 1938. Mrs. Wood, 80, Dies Friday Afternoon. Marble Rock Woman Survived by 2 Daughters, 4 Sons and 11 Grandchildren. Marble Rock, March 21---Judie Jane Reams, daughter of Elizabeth and Nicholas Reams, was born in Albert Lea, Minn., February 5th 1858 and came to Flood Creek, Ia. at the age of three years. She lived there until she was married to Asa Wood on September 30, 1877. They moved to Marble Rock thirty years ago. Her husband died September 18, 1931. Mrs. Wood was baptized and united with the Bethel Baptist church in Marble Rock on February 17, 1907. She died Friday afternoon at the age of 80 years, 1 month and 11 days. There were eight children, four sons, and four daughters, one daughter, Minta Wood, having passed away in 1889 and the other, Bessie Wood Prangley, died February 14, 1932. Survivors are two daughters Mae Wood Thronton, Spokane, Wash., Mrs. C. J. Castle of City; four sons, Amos Wood, New Hartford, James Wood, Erie, Pa., Joe Wood, Austin, Minn., and Leo Wood Marble Rock. She also leaves eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mrs. Wood was a kind and loving mother and was always willing to help her neighbors. She leaves a host of friends who will mourn her departure. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Sunday at 2:30 with Rev. A. Vanbenschoten officiating. Mayne Spaulding sang two selections accompanied by Mrs. R. B. Bullemer. The casket bearers were John Barth, Will Thronton, T. Messerschmidt, A. J. Ackley, J. T. Mills and C. Knesil. Interment was in the Hillside cemetery. Some of the relatives and friends from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Castle and family, Delone Wood, Jeane Fluent, Betty Follensbee, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Viegel, Mrs. Linda Twining, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rust, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Laum, Art Burzette, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Ferch, Gus Ferch, Ben Taylor and Erma Rowe, all of Charles City; Mr. and Mrs. C. Knesil, Sheffield; Mr. and Mrs. James Wood, Erie, Pa.; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wood, Austin, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Amos Wood, New Hartford; Mrs. Mae Thornton, Spokane, Wash.; Mr. and Mrs. Atilee Wilcox, Waterloo, Mrs. Thomas Albrecht and Mrs. DeMar, Greene; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Moore and daughter, Nora Springs; Mr. and Mrs. Ward Johnson and daughter, Nashua; Mr. and Mrs. Chas Johnson and daughter, Hanford; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Calahan and Mrs. Emma Piersol, Rockwell.
