Mrs. James L. Davey passed away Saturday night [March 9, 1946] at 11 o'clock at the Memorial hospital [Mt. Pleasant, Iowa] where she had been a patient the past six days after suffering a paralytic stroke at her home.
Ida Florence, daughter of Nancy (Burge) and John Prickett, was born on a farm north-east of New London, December 28, 1868. On January 18, 1887, at the home of her parents, she married James L. Davey. Mr. and Mrs. Davey lived on a farm until the fall of 1910 when they moved to New London. Mr. Davey passed away March 30, 1936. Mrs. Davey was a member of the Methodist church of New London and of Safety Rebeka lodge.
Surviving are one son, Cecil C. Davey of New London, one grand-daughter, Garnet LaVon Davey with the Red Cross on the Island of Guam, one grand-son, Linder Davey and one sister Mrs. Netty Lyman of New London. One son, Ralph Davey, passed away December 26, 1913. The following sisters and brother also preceded her in death: Jane, Ella, Mayme, Edna, Laura, and Elias Prickett.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 from the Ellitott Chapel in New London. The Reverend Paul Ellis, pastor of the Methodist church, will officiate. Mrs. Forrest McCleary will sing two selections accompanied by Mrs. Frank Tyner. Interment will be in the Burge cemetery with James Prickett, Fred Waters, Charles Pease, Henry Carlson, Roy Shipley, and Earl Boyer as pallbearers.
