Rochester Post-Bulletin, Minnesota, Thursday, May 5, 1983: Ebbie L. Witter, resident of Rochester, dies at 82. Ebbie L. Witter, 82, residing at Bethany Samaritan Heights and a retired Rochester Silo employee, died of a heart condition Wednesday at St. Marys Hospital where he was a patient three weeks.
Mr. Witter was born Sept. 1, 1900, in Mazeppa Township, Wabasha County, and married Olive Koelsch on Oct. 29, 1930. The couple made their home in the Douglas area until moving into Rochester in 1954. He was employed by Rochester Silo for over 40 years before retiring. Mrs. Witter died in 1963, and he became a resident at Bethany Samaritan Heights a year ago.
Survivors include two sons, Maurice of Rochester and Richard of Muscatine, Iowa; two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Gloria) Wegman of Fremont, Neb., and Mrs. Verlyn (Karen) Senjem of Hayfield; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Edwin of Rochester; and four sisters, Mrs. Alton (Grace) Wood of Menasha, Wis., Mrs. Charles (Lura) Brandli of Kasson, Mrs. Al (Vera) Behrns of Lake City and Mrs. Harold (Doris) Moyer of Rohnert Park, Calif. A brother preceded him in death.
Mr. Witter was a member of Douglas United Methodist Church, where the funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Earl Stephan officiating. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery at Douglas. Friends may call at Ranfranz Funeral Home in Rochester from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, then at the church before the service.
