Harold Hays Sr. was born October 30, 1929 in Jackson County and departed this life Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the Jackson Manor Nursing Home in Annville, being 84 years of age. He was the son of the late Floyd & Ruby (Madden) Hays.
Obituary from Lakes Funeral Home, McKee, Kentucky: Harold is survived by six children, Paulette Kelley and her husband Kenneth of Berea, Harold Hays, Jr. and his wife Sharon of Tyner; Gary Hays and his wife Joyce of McKee; Tony Hays of Gray Hawk; Joel Hays and his wife Betty of Gray Hawk and Lesa Gieringer of Richmond. He is also survived by a brother, Wayne Hays and his wife Kacy of Annville and by two sisters, Nell Hacker and her husband Jerry of Gray Hawk and Mary Lou Ragle and her husband Arvis of Springboro, OH. Harold was blessed with 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and 24 nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Harold was also preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Lou (Moore) Hays; by a son, Christopher Hays and by the following brothers and sisters, James R. Hays, Floyd Hays, Jr., Robert Hays, Richard Mac Hays, William Lowell Hays, David Hays, Joseph Hays, Marie Young, Irene Moore, Mable Morgan, & Bonnie Hays.
Harold was a member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and was a 32 Degree Mason. He was also retired from Kentucky State Highway Dept.
Funeral service were held 1:00PM Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Farmer and Bro. Carroll de Forest officiating. Burial followed in the Floyd Hays Cemetery. Pallbearer were Aaron Hays, Shorty McDaniel, Jeremy Newman, Benjamin Newman, Jason Holtz, Chris Hammonds, Jacob Powell and Blake Powell.
