Lacy O. Harris Sr.

Webster Herald, Webster, New York, Wednesday, Nov. 30, 1994, Page 19: Lacy Harris, Ontario, died Friday, Nov. 18, 1994, at his home after an extended illness. He was 85. Born June 3, 1909, in Penfield to Potter and Hattie VanLone Harris, he grew up on Harris Road and attended the one-room schoolhouse on Harris Road in Penfield. He was married to Dorothy Hosier Oct. 12, 1940, at Holy Trinity Church, Webster. The couple lived in Webster, Union Hill, Manchester and for the past 10 years in Ontario. Mr. Harris owned and operated the Old Ridge Inn in Webster during the 1950's, operated Sodus Bay Gold Club for a year, tended bar at the Harvest Inn in Ontario and sold cars for Don Malcolm Oldsmobile in Fairport. In his early working days he drove a truck and delivered fee to farmers for Glenn Rosenbauer on Salt Road Webster. He was a former member of the Webster Fire Department and Webster Chamber of Commerce. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling in leagues at Empire Bowl and playing euchre with friends and family. The Rev. Sheldon R. Peterson officiated at a funeral service Monday, Nov. 21, at the Willard H. Scott Funeral Home. Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery, Penfield. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a daughter, Sharon VanDusen of Walworth; two sons, Lacy Jr. of Marion and Gary (Debbie) of North Carolina; nine grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters.
