The Owen Leader, Spencer, Indiana, Wednesday, September 19, 1923, Page 7: Ku Klux Funeral. Joseph Stine of Stinesville, who died early last week was buried Thursday at Chambersville. It was the first Ku Klux funeral ever held in Owen county. About 65 Klansmen were present, lined up long the driveway and clothed in their white robes and hoods. At a command from their leader they filed past the open grave, through the church yard and disappeared. Several Spencer folk attended the funeral.
