Joplin Globe, Joplin, Missouri, Tuesday, October 1, 1991, Page 13, Col. 4: Miami, Okla.---Estal Wayne Friend, 70, Miami, died Sunday at St. John's Hospital, Tulsa, after a long illness. Mr. Friend was born May 3, 1921, at Aurora, Mo. He retired in 1983 from B. F. Goodrich. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church, where he had served as a deacon. He was also a member of the Northeast Oklahoma Gem and Mineral Society. He was a veteran of World War Ii, serving in the U. S. Navy. Survivors include his wife, Lorene Friend; three daughters, Patricia Ann Nading, Miami, Carolyn Joyce Hall, Shreveport. La., and Janet Lynn Benegoni, Gillette, Wyo.; two brothers, Clarence Friend, Seneca, Mo., and Audra Friend, Paradise, Calif.; two sister, Lorene Costilow and Gertrude Ferrell, both of Bakersfield, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Arrangements are pending with Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami. Contributions may be made to the Gideon Society.
