Constance "Connie" Lee Scoles
(17 May 1932 - 4 May 2013)
SPRING GREEN - Constance Lee "Connie" Tafs, age 80, of Spring Green, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Greenway Manor Nursing Home.
Connie was born on May 17, 1932, in Nashua, Iowa, the first born of Clark and Lucille Scoles. She graduated from Sanborn High School in 1950 and completed her college education at Iowa State Teachers College before embarking in her life mission. She was a teacher for a short period of time and spent a number of years working at Electrical Transformers, but her most precious role was that of devoted wife and mother. Connie married Gregory C. Tafs on March 24, 1955, in Reno, Nev., and they recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary together. Greg and Connie lived most of their married life in the California Bay Area, moving to Spring Green in 1993, when Greg retired. Up until her recent illness, Connie was actively involved as a member of the Greenway Manor Volunteers, The Quilters at Christ Lutheran Church, was a member of the Rebecca Circle, and enjoyed meals with her friends at the Spring Green Senior Center. Connie is survived by her sons, Marlon (Deb) of Plain, Wis., and Gary of Las Vegas Nev.; three grandsons, Joshua (Sheila), Ryan, Justin (Rita); three great-grandchildren, Hayden, Braelyn, and Angus; brothers and sisters, Larry (Linda) Scoles of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Dorothy Scoles of St. Paul, Minn., Kathy Scoles of Mesa, Ariz., and Mark (Carol) Scoles of Spring Green; and several nieces and nephews with a special place in her heart for Travis and Sara. She was preceded in death by her husband, Greg on April 8, 2013; her parents; a nephew, Brandon Scoles; and a family friend, Henning Christensen. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Spring Green. Pastor Douglas Larson-Sell will officiate with burial following in the Big Hollow Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 6, 2013, at the Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again at church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Service.Simple words are inadequate to express our heartfelt gratitude for the care and love that was extended to Greg and Connie during their stay at Greenway Manor Nursing Home. They truly felt your compassion and exceptional attention to each of their personal needs, as did we, over these past months. The Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
