Stanley Eugene Henry

COZAD -- Stanley E. Henry, 75, of Cozad, died Monday, March 27, 2000, at the Cozad Hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad. Burial will be in the Cozad Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Grand Generation Center or the donor's choice. Mr. Henry was born Nov. 27, 1924, at Cozad to Charles and Edith (Woodside) Henry. He grew up northeast of Cozad where he attended rural school and later Cozad High School. In 1944, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a paratrooper over Germany and France until he was injured. On Jan. 23, 1945, he married Jean Margaret Chittenden while he was on furlough with the U.S. Army. Following his discharge, the couple lived near Cozad, followed by a brief time in Indianola. In 1954, they returned to their farm by Cozad and lived there until 1969, when they moved to Cozad. He was a farmer and also worked at Monroe Auto Equipment and later for the Cozad Public Schools. During his retirement, they spent a great deal of time at the Grand Generation Center with old friends. He enjoyed fishing on his boat. He was a member of the 12th Street Church of Christ and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Don of Usk, Wash., Dale of Loveland, Colo. and Doug of Grand Island; a daughter, Debra (Mrs. Gordon) Eby of Owatonna, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Eldon and a granddaughter.
