Williamsburg Journal Tribune, Williamsburg, Iowa Co., Iowa, November 30,1989: Memorial service for Bill Lewis, 73, Is Thursday. Memorial services for Wilbur U. (Bill) Lewis, 73, Marengo, will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Thursday, at First Presbyterian Church, Marengo. He died of an apparent heart attack about 7:40 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, 1989, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, after being taken there by helicopter from Marengo Memorial Hospital late the preceding evening. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Oluf Kongshaug, Organist Deania (Mrs. Ken) Martens will play the selection "How Great Thou Art" and accompany Betty (Mrs. Olaf) Kongshaug as she sings "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset." There will be a cremation committal in the Marengo Cemetery. Memorials may be left at Hoover-Valentine Funeral Home, Marengo. Born May 10, 1916 at Waterloo, Wilbur U. Lewis was the son of LuRoy U. and Ethel Hosier Lewis. He attended school in Cedar Rapids. He was divorced. Lewis had worked for Bissel's Vacuum Cleaner Company for a number of years in Grands Rapids, Mich., before moving to Marengo 11 years ago. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and also had been active in HACAP (Hawkeye Area Community Action Program) Center activities in Marengo. He was runner-up the last two years as the Outstanding Senior Citizen of Iowa County sponsored by Heritage Agency on Aging. Survivors include one son, Dale Lewis Marengo; one daughter, Carol (Mrs. Larry) Bislawn, Marlon; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ethel (Mrs. George) Daugherty and Hazel Gleason, both Marengo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son.
