Obituary of Harry Hosier from an unidentified Washington Co., Kansas newspaper: Harry P. Hosier, 84, Manhattan, died Sept. 11, 1991, at his home. He was born May 22, 1907, in Washington, the son of William and Cora Wolfe Hosier. Mr. Hosier was a former owner of Harry's Market in Manhattan. He was also a manager of the Manhattan Elks Club, superintendent of Manhattan Odd Fellows Home, and part-time car salesman. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a life member of Benevolent and Protecitve Order of Elks, Independent Order of the Odd Fellows Lodge No. 17 and Harmony Rebekah Lodge No. 689, all in Manhattan. He also was a member of American Association of Retired Persons. On Dec. 31, 1931, he married Doris Matter in Salina. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Daryl Lee Shipp, Hutchison; two sisters, Daisy Ricky, Washington, and Eva John in California; three granddaughters; and a great granddaughter. Funeral service was Sept. 14 at Edwards-Yorgensen-Meloan Funeral Home. Burial was in Valley View Memorial Gardens with ritualistics services conducted by the Elks and Odd Fellows lodges.
