Obituary from Douglas County Herald, Ava, Douglas County, Missouri Thursday, April 3, 1969, page 8, column 4: John L. Newville Retired City Employee, Dies. John L. Newville, 76, of Ava and a resident of Douglas County most of his life, died at 11 p. m. Wednesday, March 26 at Baptist Hospital in Springfield after a long illness. A retired city employee, Mr. Newville was born May 8, 1892 in Iowa, a son of Albert H. and Lewise Newville. He was married to Coral L. Hosier who preceded him in death in 1954. He was a member of the Church of God. Survivors included his wife, Anna Bell Byerley Newville; a daughter, Mrs. Leonard Schofield of Republic; three step children, Robin, Betty Jean and Rebecca Jane Byerley, all of the home; a sister, Mrs. Olive E. McCalwain of Wilmar, Minn. Funeral services were held at 3:30 p. m. Sunday at the Clinkenbeard Funeral Chapel by Rev. Carl Willis. Burial was made in the Ava Cemetery by Clinkenbeard Funeral Home.
