Albert C. Lipscomb

From Ava, Douglas Co., Missouri Newspaper June 2003: Albert C. Lipscomb, son of Robert E. Lipscomb and Sophie L. (Jacobs) Lipscomb, was born July 25, 1920 in Springfield, and departed this life June 3, 2003, at the age of 82 years. Albert was a life long resident of the Mcclurg Community. He was a farmer and worked in road construction in Kansas for 20 years. Albert served his country during WW II with the U. S. Army. He was awarded four bronze stars, the good conduct medal and the purple heart. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Campaign. Albert enjoyed hunting and fishing and driving his little red Ford Focus. He reached out to friends and neighbors who needed a helping hand and was always happy to go and visit people and to have people in his home. He loved to be with his family. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, ten brothers and sisters and his wife, Helen. Survivors include one son, Charles Lipscomb, Brookline, Missouri; four daughters, Shirley Spooner, Norma Metcalf, Alice King and Wanda Lipscomb all of Ulysses, Kansas; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. Services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, June 5, at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Tom Johnson officiating. There will be full military rites conducted by Ava American Legion #112 and VFW #5993. Interment will be in the Dann Cemetery, Brown Branch, Missouri. Visiting was Wednesday, 7-8 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials to the Disabled Veteran's of America.
