Anitoch Daily Ledger, Antioch, California, May 4, 1981, Page 8: Visitation for Jergen Wolfhart Maass, 55, of Antioch, will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday in Higgins Funeral home in Antioch. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. John's Lutheran Church in Antioch. Burial will follow in Oakview Cemetery in Antioch. Mr. Maass, a native of Camin, Pommern, Germany, died Saturday in Walnut Creek following a brief illness. He served in the German Luftwaffe during World War II and was taken prisoner by the French Army. He was held in a prisoner of war camp in France from 1945 to 1949, when he was freed by the the U. S. government. Mr. Maass was married and later divorced. His entry to the U. S. was sponsored by Fibreboard Corp. He came to Richmond in 1956 and then was assigned to the Antioch plant, now owned by Louisiana Pacific Corp., where he worked until he became ill three weeks ago. He was a member of United Pulp and Papermakers Union and was well known in Pittsburg. Mr. Maass is survived by two daughters, Ulricke Stephens of Big Break Harbor in Oakley and Marion Kirkpatrick of Oakley; and two grandchildren.
