Lester Vernon Folley

U. S. Census Index of 1920 shows Lester Folley, age 28, in Waterloo, Black Hawk Co., Iowa, roll T625-478, Page 3B, ED17, Image 576. His wife Christine and children Bernice, Eugene and Eunice are in the household as well as Lester's sister Cora. Lester's occupation is house carpenter and Cora's is bookkeeper in a grocerie.
The 1930 U. S. Census of Waterloo, Black Hawk Co., Iowa shows Lester with wife, Christine, and daughters Bernice and Eunice. Lester is working as an inspector in a tractor plant.

Folley, 50, of 429 Center street, was killed almost instantly about 10:30 p.m. Monday when the car he was driving struck a telephone pole in front of 1653 Falls avenue, residence of Mrs. Mina Tharp.
Clinton Westring, 18, of 1220 Dundee avenue, in the car with Folley, received a fractured left wrist and suffered severe shock. Folley, whose face was mangled beyond recognition by the impact, was rushed to Presbyterian hospital in an ambulance, along with Westring, but died en route.
It was the sixth traffic fatality in Waterloo during 1943.
Dr. Sidney Smith, coroner, pronounced Folley's death accidental and the result of the fractured skull. Westring was dismissed from the hospital Tuesday.
En Route to Deere's.
According to police, Folley was taking Westring to work at the John Deere Tractor Co., where both men are employed at the time of the accident. Police said Folley apparently turned off Cleveland avenue onto Falls avenue, lost control of his car and smashed into the pole. The front end of the automobile a 1940 Plymouth coupe, was badly damaged.
Folley, employed days as an inspector at Deere's had been with the company 20 years. Westring a night electrician at Deere's, has been employed there since October.
Minneapolis-Born.

His wife preceded him in death. surviving are two daughters, Bernice and Eunice, both residing in Santa Monica, Cal.; two brothers, Cecil of Danberry, Wis., Eugene, 429 Center street, Waterloo, and six sisters, Mrs. Ole Norheim, Minneapolis; Mrs. Clarence Paulzine, Minneapolis; Mrs. Roy Apsley, Minneapolis; Mrs. Frank Anderson, Heron, S. D.; Mrs. Bertha Fremont, Danberry, Wis., and Mrs. Bernard Israel Webster, Wis.
The body is at Kearns Garden chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Kearns Garden chapel by Rev. M. Lloyd Dutro, pastor of Graves Memorial United Brethren church. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery.
