Herald-Journal, Spartanburg, South Carolina, Saturday, November 20, 2010: Spartenburg, SC---Bessie Dugan Flora, 78, of 117 Creekwood Drive, died Thursday, November 18, 2010, at her home surrounded by her family. Born July 24, 1932, in Macon, MS, she was the daughter of the late Monroe Livingston and Mildred Lucille Aycock Dugan and the wife of the late Jack David Flora. She retired from Monsanto, and after her retirement, opened Flora's Maternity and Gift Boutique which she operated for 10 years. She was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. Bess is survived by her son, David (Melba) Flora of Waterloo, SC; daughters, Kay (Lin) Gantt of Hodges, SC and Nancy (Jim) Cheek of Spartanburg, SC; sister, Geraldine Stoll of Spring, TX; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, November 20, 2010, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Monty King. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside. Memorials may be made to Mount Zion Baptist Church Building Fund, 842 Mount Zion Road, Spartanburg, SC; or to Interim Hospice, 155 Deacon Tiller Court, Duncan, SC 29334. The family is at the home.
