Mac Lafayette Clark

Burlington Hawk Eye, Burlington, Iowa, Wednesday, April 15, 1998, Page 15, Col. 3: Mac L. Clark, 84, of Keokuk, died at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk. Born March 25, 1913, in Lorraine, Ill, he was the son of Lafe and Isabelle Bettisworth Clark. On Aug. 22, 1937, he married rosella White in Palmyra, Mo.
Mr. Clark and his wife moved from Quincy, Ill., to Keokuk in 1946. He began working at George Koch auto dealership in Keokuk in 1949, and continued to work there when it became Wilkins, retiring in 1979. He also worked for Sheffler Motors of Keokuk, retiring from there in July 1984.
He was a member of First Christian Church, Elks Lodge No. 106, and charter member of Deer Run Golf Course, all of Keokuk, and United Commercial Travelers. He was an avid Golfer.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Beverly Heil of Dallas, Texas; one son, Ronald Clark of Portland, Ore.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Pauline Clark of Quincy, Ill., Marge Worrell of Tucson, ,Ariz., Lola Foster of Green Bay, Wis., and Mable Schoenheider of Peoria, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and seven brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Thursday at DeJong's Funeral Home in Keokuk, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. and a public Elks service at 8 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Clark will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church, with the Rev. William Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Bowen Abby in Bowen, Ill. A memorial has been established for First Christian Church.
