The Hawk Eye, Burlington, Iowa, June 23, 2005: Charles Robert Gregg, 83, of Mount Pleasant, died Sunday, June 19, 2005, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant. Born Oct. 3, 1921, in Mount Pleasant, he was the son of Charles A. and Jessie Bigler Gregg. On May 13, 1945, he married Rosalie Payne in Denver. Mr. Gregg was an audit supervisor and accountant for the state of California for 34 years, retiring in 1982. He was a graduate of the University of Southern California. He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran, where he obtained the rank of first lieutenant. He enjoyed golfing. He lived in Los Angeles for 26 years, San Diego for 19 years and Houston for nine years, moving to Mount Pleasant in 1998. Survivors include his wife; one son, Gary Gregg of Kalamazoo, Mich.; and one grandson. There will be no visitation or service. According to his wishes, his body has been cremated. Private burial of Mr. Gregg will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant. Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant is in charge of arrangements.
