Beckstine, 89, of Peoria died at 10:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, at ManorCare Health Services of Peoria. He was born Aug. 16, 1917, in Peoria to Frank W. and Lottie M. Schultz Beckstine. He married Jacqueline I. Ogburn on Sept. 7, 1947, in Wyoming, Ill. She preceded him in death on April 24, 1985, in Peoria. Also preceding him in death were his parents. Surviving are one daughter, Gail (and Stephen) Snowden; three grandsons, Daniel (and Cindy) Snowden, Philip Snowden and Douglas (and Christina) Snowden; one great-grandson, Kurtis Snowden; and one great-granddaughter, Kacy Snowden, all of Peoria. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II. He was head teller at Bartonville Bank for 19 years, retiring in 1983. Before that, he worked for First National Bank for 27 years, and the State Bank of Speer, for two and one half years. He was a member of Arcadia Avenue Presbyterian Church, Temple Lodge 46 AF&AM, AMVETS Post 64 and American Legion Post 2 of Peoria. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, at The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria. Pastor Howard Love will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, at the mortuary. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Peoria. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or the American Cancer Society.
