The Dispatch-Argus, Moline, Illinois, Thursday, March 16, 1995: Cecile H. Garrett, 95, of 1250 W. Carl Sandburg Drive, Galesburg, died Sunday, March 12, 1995, at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg. Services were 1:30 p.m. today at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel, Galesburg. Burial is in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg.There was no visitation.
The former Cecile H. Hollingsworth was born Dec. 18, 1899, the daughter of Brady W. and Katie Strong Hollingsworth. She married Harold Boyd Garrett in 1923. He died in 1926. Mrs. Garrett was employed in public schools for 30 years, retiring in 1960. She was a member of Central Congregational Church, a 50-year member of Galesburg Eastern Star, Sincerity Lodge 6; Knox County, Illinois and National Retired Teachers' Associations; White Shrine and the Business and Professional Women's Associations, both of Macomb. Survivors include a son, Harold Garrett Jr., Cambridge; two grandchildren; three step grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and 12 step great-grandchildren.
