Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier, Iowa, Sunday, September 11, 2011: Oelwein - Alice Mae Schulmeister, 92, of Oelwein, died Friday, Sept. 9, at Allen Hospital in Waterloo. She was born Sept. 18, 1918, in New Hampton, daughter of George W. and Ada Annette Johnston. She married Peter Jacob Schulmeister Dec. 30, 1939, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein. He died July 15, 1981. She graduated from Oelwein High School in 1937. She was a homemaker and a sales clerk at Conners Department Store in Oelwein for 22 years. Mrs. Schulmeister was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Survived by: five daughters, JoAnn (Gary) Sherwood of Waterloo, Janice (Richard) Shepherd and Janette (Larry) Simpson, all of Oelwein, and Joyce (Jamie) Bruce and Julie (Wayne) Johnson, all of Cedar Rapids; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Velma Morey of Oelwein. Preceded in death by: two brothers, Lee W. Johnston and Glenn G. Johnston. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, both in Oelwein. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, with a 7 p.m. Scripture service. Memorial fund has been established in her name.
