She was born May 15, 1922, at home on the family farm north of Roseville, the daughter of Victor Twomey and Lucile (McElroy) Twomey. She was raised and educated in Roseville, graduating from Roseville High School in 1939. She later graduated from Western Illinois Teachers College with a home economics degree.
Norma married Charles Kirkpatrick on Dec. 27, 1942, in Ft. Riley, Kansas. He survives. Norma was a home economics teacher in Mt. Sterling, then a homemaker. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Monmouth. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Norma was a member of the Women's Club (past president), Altar & Rosary (past president), TTT, Warren Henderson Home Economists, and Science & Arts Club.
Survivors include her husband, Charles; eight children, Kay (Glenn) Darlington of Tucson, Arizona, Linda (Rick) Jones of Castle Rock, Colorado, Vicki (Stew) Gilmore of Carterville, Connie (Jim) Grant of Roseville, Jonna Young of Smithshire, Mary Alice (Jim) Addis of Lafayette, Holly (Kurt) Kociuba of Liberty Hills, Texas, and Ed (Natalie) Kirkpatrick of Crystal Lake; two brothers, John Twomey of Monmouth and Victor Twomey of Roseville; 24 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary Jane Twomey; her brother, Pat Twomey; and nephew, Joe Twomey.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Monmouth. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Monmouth. Visitation will be Sunday, July 22, 2018, at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, from 3 to 6 p.m., with a rosary service beginning at 2:30 p.m. Memorials may be given to Immaculate Conception School or the Warren County History Museum.
