Davenport, a long-time Oklahoma newspaperman and public relations executive died here Friday at the age of 66. He had been ill for some. Services were scheduled for Monday in Oklahoma City, with burial at Memorial Park in Tulsa.
Davenport worked as a reporter for newspapers in Ardmore, Muskogee, and Oklahoma City. He became city editor of the Daily Oklahoma in 1928 and president and general manager of Rinehart Oil News Co. at Tulsa in 1930. Davenport returned to Oklahoma City in 1946 and gained national recognition for the syndicated promotional material he designed for churches around the nation. He served as public rations director for the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma from 1953-1958.
He is survived by his widow, three daughters and three grandchildren.
