Funeral services were held Thursday, October 1 at Houston Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Oren Vance and the Rev. J W Sheron officiating. The son of the late John Ivy Washington and the late Betty Jane Haney, he was a retired farmer and employee of Shannon Chair Company. He was born in Pontotoc County. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Irene Funderburk Washington of Houlka; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Ann Reeves of Houston, Miss Fay Washington, Mrs. Sarah Lancaster and Mrs. Martha Vance, all of Houlka; five sons, Raymond Washington of Pontotoc, George Washington of Woodland, Bobby Washington of Houston, James Washington and Terry Washington, both of Houlka; two brothers, Autry Washington of Batesville and Mitchell Washington of Waycross, Georgia; four half brothers, Belvie Mathis of Pontotoc, Mack Washington of Memphis, Tennessee, Ray Washington of Houston and Jerry Dale Washington of Tupelo; two half sisters, Mrs. Patricia Sledge and Mrs. Mildred Ward, both of Houston; 17 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Kenny Hardin, Aaron Griggs, Stanley Vance, Kenneth Funderburk, Rick Huffman and Nona Taylor. Houston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
