He was born on Aug. 31, 1942, in Monroe County to Martha Evelyn Elliott Johnson and Charles William Johnson. He had lived in Smithville and Amory his entire lifetime where he was a graduate of Smithville High School. He married Rosa Ruth Holloway on Aug. 3, 1989, who preceded him in death in 1996. He was a retired self-employed truck driver and a member of Smithville Baptist Church. He was a Master Mason.Services will be at 2 p.m. today at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Lee Gardner officiating. Burial will be at Pearce Chapel Cemetery in Smithville. Survivors include his mother, Martha Evelyn Elliott Johnson of Amory; one son, Chuck Johnson of Amory; two daughters, Pamela Johnson Miller of Saltillo and Karla Robinson of Fulton; three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and his wife. Visitation will continue until service time today at the funeral home.
