No. 3 passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 6, 1982, at his residence. Mr. Stephens, a prominent Platteville dairy farmer was a member of the Whig United Methodist church and of the Guernsey Breeders Association. He had served as a board member of the Grant County FHA. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Gussie Culver, on March 19, 1975. Survivors are two sons, Stephen L. of Kenosha and Amos C. of Afton, Wyoming; a daughter, Mrs. David (Jo Ann) Brown of Grand Junction, Colorado; eight grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Hobart (Margaret) Biddick of Montfort. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 9, at 2 p.m. at the Whig United Methodist Church at rural Platteville with the Reverend Thomas Lloyd officiating. Burial will be in the Whig Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday at the Bonin Funeral Home in Platteville. A Byron Stephens memorial fund has been established.
