The Beaver Dam Argus 17 June 1920. Josiah E. Lyon died at his home in Oshkosh, Thursday, June 10, aged 85 years, 7 months and 11 days. Mr. Lyon was born at West Charleston, Vermont, July 1, 1834 and came to Wisconsin with his parents who settled at Rolling Prairie. He married Arminda Clason and resided in this city for a number of years. He was a grain shipper and owned elevators in this city, Burnett and Rolling Prairie. In 1889 he moved to Escanaba, Michigan, where he was foreman of the iron ore docks, and afterwords had charge of the lumber yard there. In 1881 he was member of the Common Council from second ward of this city, and was a prominent member of the Masonic Order, having served as Master Mason and High Priest. He was one of the early students of the Wayland Academy and served three years in the Civil War. After the death of his wife in 1914 he moved to Oshkosh. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Isabelle Lyon Roberts of Oshkosh; two sisters, Mrs. W. W. Watson of Oshkosh, Mrs. John Simpson of Coon Rapids, Iowa; one brother, John H. Lyon of Genesee, North Dakota. His remains were brought to Beaver Dam and laid to rest beside those of his wife in Oakwood.

Josiah Edmon Lyon died at his home 258 Jackson Street, yesterday afternoon. He was born at West Charleston, Vt., July 1, 1834 and came west with his parents, Durkee and Jane Whitman Lyon, and settled in 1843 at Rolling Prairie, Dodge county. He was married to Armida [Arminda] Clason and resided at Beaver Dam for a number of yeas, where two children were born, one of whom died in infancy. Mr. Lyon a grain shipper for a number of years and owned elevators at Beaver Dam, Burnett, and Rolling Prairie. In 1889 he moved with his family to Escanaba, Mich,, where he served as foreman of the iron ore docks, afterwords being in charge of a large lumber yard at that place.
He was an active member of the Masonic Order at Beaver Dam, where he held the position of Master Mason and High Priest. Mr. Lyon was one of the early students at Wayland university. He saw three years service in the civil war.
After the death of Mrs. Lyon in 1914 he came to this city to spend his remaining years near his sister, Mrs. W. W. Watson. His daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Roberts of Los Angeles came to Oshkosh to establish a home for Mr. Lyon. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. W. W. Watson of this city, Mrs. John Simpson of Coon Rapids, Ia., and one brother, John H. Lyon of Genesee, N. D. Funeral services will be held at the home 258 Jackson street, tonight at 7:30 o'clock. Rev. Edward H. Smith officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Beaver Dam tomorrow.
