Fred Kirkpatrick Hill

On the 1930 U. S. census of Platteville, grant Co., Wisconsin, Fred Hill appears with his wife Edith and daughter Sue Ann age 2 months. Fred is a commercial salesman of farm machinery.
Obituary from unknown newspaper provided by Grant County Wisconsin Genealogical Society. Fred "Kirk" Hill was born Feb. 25th, 1903, at Rewey, Wis. He moved to Platteville at the age of 4 years. He attended the Platteville public schools and was graduated from the Platteville State Teachers College in 1922. After coaching athletics at the high school at Sparta, Wis., for one year, he entered Carroll College, Waukesha, where he was graduated in 1927. In January 1928 he was married to Edith Kilpatrick of Waukesha. He has been employed by the International Harvester Company and held the position of Block Manager at Rockford, Platteville and Sparta, and established his home at Sparta in 1932, and remaining there until his death on January 1, 1937. During his college years at the State Teachers College and Carroll College he was active in athletics, excelling in basketball and football. He was mentioned as all state full back in 1926 and 1927 while playing with Carroll College. Arriving at Platteville with his family Saturday, Dec. 26th for a holiday to visit with his mother, Mrs. W. C. Hill, he was suddenly stricken with pneumonia and passed away at the Cunningham hospital January 1, 1937, early Friday morning. He is survived by his wife and three daughters, Sue Ann, 7; Barbara Jean 4, Patricia 18 months, his mother, Mrs. Hill, one brother Charles at Madison; two sisters Mrs. Howard Neill, Peoria, Ill; and Mrs. Dean Waters of Downers Grove, Ill and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Sunday at one o'clock, Jan. 3, 1937 in the First Methodist Episcopal church at Platteville, with the Rev. Erest E. Clarke, pastor officiating. Prof. Reige played beautiful and comforting organ music. There were many floral tributes. He was laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery at Platteville.
