Orville Charles Hart

(27 May 1811 - 3 Aug 1896)

Dickey County Leader, Ellendale, N. D., Thursday, Aug. 6, 1896: Orville Charles Hart. At his home in Spring Valley Twp. on Aug. 3, 1896 at the age of 85 years. Orville Charles Hart. Mr. Hart was a native of New York state and was born at Saratoga Springs, Saratoga Co., N.Y. May 27, 1811. In 1833 he married Mary E. Clason. In 1836 he removed with his family to Ohio. As the tide of immigration moved west Mr. Hart went to Prairieville, Wisc. in 1843. The first year of the Civil War found him at Manorville, Minn. too far advanced in years to engage in battle for his county, but he sent two sons to defend the Union. In 1882 he came to Dickey Co. where he has since resided. Death came to him without sickness or pain, the cause of his demise being simply old age. Five sons and one daughter remain to mourn him. The remains were laid to rest Tuesday by the side of his wife who preceded him in death about five years ago. The funeral service was held in the Presbyterian Church Friday with Rev. Shirey preaching the sermon.
