Kansas City Star, Kansas City, Missouri, Sunday, December 17, 1989, Page 53, Col. 1: William Robert Mackie, 73, Leawood, former president of Mackie-Clemens Fuel Co., died Dec. 15, 1989, at St. Luke's Hospital. Mr. Mackie worked for the company for more than 45 years and was its president for 35 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Kansas City Rotary Club. He was a graduate of the University of Kansas, where he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He was a major in the Army during World War II. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Overland Park. He was born in Lawrence and lived in this area for 45 years.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Mackie of the home; two sons, George Kerr Mackie II, Leawood and William Robert Mackie Jr., Baldwin City, Kan.; two daughters, Elizabeth Mackie Orrick, Omaha, Neb., and Mary Ann Mackie, Seattle; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church; cremation. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Newcomer's Stine & McClure Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the church.
