Dorothy May Kirkpatrick was born 23 Octo 1917. On 5 August 1942 she married Joseph Lawrence Stoneburner who was born 10 February 1920 in Ohio, and died 29 November 1982.
There were two (2) children born of the marriage.
The Galesburg Register-Mail, April 26, 2005: Roseville---Dorothy May K. Stoneburner, 87, Roseville, died at 8:30 a.m. Monday (April 25, 2005) in Community Medical Center, Monmouth. She was born Oct. 23, 1917, in Roseville, the daughter of Hugh J. and Cora G. Meacham Kirkpatrick. She married Joseph Lawrence "Larry" Stoneburner on Aug. 5, 1942, in Fort Belvoir, Va. He died Nov. 29, 1982. Surviving are two daughters, Martha (and Lyle) Paul, DeKalb, and Marcia (and Tom) Gradowski, Lindenhurst; a brother, George M. Kirkpatrick, North Syracuse, N.Y.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister and a sister. She graduated from the University of Illinois in 1940 with a bachelor of science degree in physical education.
She taught for a number of years in Kewanee and in Perry, Iowa, while her husband was in the military. After World War II, they returned to Roseville where they built their home and farmed. She taught physical education for 22 years in the Roseville School District, retiring in 1983.
She was a member of Daughters of American Revolution Chief Shaubena Chapter, Roseville American Legion Auxiliary, Warren County Genealogical Society, Warren County Farm Bureau and Roseville Baptist Church.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Corman Memorial Home. Visitation will be one hour before the service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Roseville Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Dorothy K. Stoneburner Scholarship Fund for a student from the original District 200 area to attend the University of Illinois in engineering.
