Iva Jo Kirkpatrick was born on 1 January 1931 in Chaonia, Wayne County, Missouri. She married Billy Rae Eastman. There was one child born of the marriage.
The Current Local, Van Buren, Missouri, June 2009: Iva Jo Eastman, 78, of Piedmont, died June 5, 2009, in Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo. She was born Jan. 1, 1931, in Piedmont, Mo., daughter of the late James Andrew and Mabel Ann (Clary) Kirkpatrick. She was united in marriage to Bill Eastman on May 19, 1948. He preceded her in death on May 14, 1982. She is survived by one daughter, Ruth Ann "Rae" (Randy) Schuller, Piedmont; three sisters, Dixie Jane McSpadden, Van Buren, Clara Etta Graf, Hazelwood, Sue Gooch, Piedmont; three grandchildren, Jacob lutes, Magan Smith, Whitney Schuller; five great-grandchildren, Andrew Smith, Olivia Smith, Austin Lutes; Ben Lutes and Tristin Soo. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene Kirkpatrick, James Andrew Kirkpatrick Jr., and one sister Ann Kirkpatrick Lingren. Mrs. Eastman graduated from Piedmont High school in 1948. She held many positions throughout her life, including employment at Kirk's Kitchen, Piedmont Shirt Factory, Post Dispatch distribution, Manager/ Owner of Eastman Shell Company and Cabins and Eastman's Drive Inn, and secretary for Roy Anderson Insurance Company. In her later years, when her husband, a longtime sales employee of Ross Ford, was no longer able to sell automobiles, she took over as a car saleswoman. She retired from that job after 14 years.She served as a girl scout leader in her earlier years. Her hobby, throughout her lifetime, was primarily golf. She spent her life raising her child and helping to raise her grandchildren and the children of other many friends and family. Jo loved her family and friends and above all, was a unifying factor for many throughout her life. He home was a second home for her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition, her home was gathering place for sisters, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends who would claim her as their second mother. Even in her last months at Clark's Mountain Nursing Center, her room was the haven for many who would go to Jo for comfort and advice. The funeral was held June 9 at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. W. Michael Woods and Rev. Jack Ruble officiating. Music was provided by Glendell Twidwell, Jeanette Turnbough, Ricky and Aliesha Gammons. Andrew Smith delivered the eulogy. Pallbearers were Jacob Lutes, Patrick McSpadden, Bobby McSpadden, Jimmy Kirkpatrick, Chuck Kirkpatrick and Jim Gooch Burial was in the Masonic Cemetery.Arrangements were under the direction of Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont.
