DEATH: Charles "Dick" Day, 73, of Terre Haute died at 8:47 p.m. Monday,Feb. 17, 2003, in his residence. He was a former member of Laborers Local204. He was born Aug. 23, 1929, in Terre Haute to Vance Day and JosephineCook Day. Survivors include his wife, Delores McCullough Day, whom hemarried Jan. 9, 1953; six sons, Ronnie Day and his wife Rhonda, Randy Dayand his wife Ginny, Wayne Day and his wife Mary Ann, and David Day andhis wife Lorra, all of Terre Haute, and Chuck Day and Scott Day, both ofTexas; four daughters, Joyce Ellinger and her husband Daniel, and TammyDay, all of Terre Haute, and Teresa Cox and her husband Jim, of Carlisle,and Peggy Cox of Texas; one brother, Vance Day and his wife Becky, ofAlabama; one sister, Mildred Flora of Terre Haute; 19 grandchildren;three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He waspreceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and five sisters. He wasin the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Services are 2:30 p.m. Friday inDeBaun Springhill Chapel, with the Rev. Andrew Merritt officiating.Burial is in Grandview Cemetery with a Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972graveside memorial. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
